Configuring Wiki Options

Tiki's wiki is fully customizable. There are more than 75 different wiki options that you can turn on or off.
To begin:

  1. From the Administration page, click Wiki.

     Tip

You can also access the Administration page by typing http://www.yourdomain.com/tiki-admin.php?page=wiki in your web browser.
  2. The Wiki control panel contains all of the options for your wiki pages. The General tab:
General tab of Administration: Wiki page
  3. If your Tiki is non-English, you must change the Wiki link format to select the proper character set for internal wiki links.
  4. Other common options include:
    • By default, the "home" page for the wiki (and in most cases, the overall site) is HomePage. Use the Wiki Home page field to change this.

       Note

If you enter a page name that does not exist, Tiki will create a default page.
    • Use the Wiki Author List Style option to specify what information (such as last modified date) appears at the bottom of each wiki page. Enable Specify wiki author list style per page to control this display on a page-by-page basis.
    • Enable the Wiki auto-toc to automatically create a table of contents for each wiki page, if you did not already use the Configuration Wizard.
  5. Leave the other options as their default, and click the Features tab.
    Administration: Wiki page
  6. In the Wiki Features area, enable the following options:
    • Sandbox: The Sandbox is a special wiki page. You (and your users) can edit this page to learn the Tiki wiki syntax. No versions of the page are retained, so you don't have to worry about spam.
    • Comments below Wiki pages: This allows registered users to add comments to the page (without actually editing the wiki page). You can further customize Tiki by specifying if the comments should be displayed by default and how they are ordered. You can override this setting on a page-by-page basis.
    • Images: This allows you to upload pictures and images to a wiki page. By default, uploaded pictures will be stored in the File Gallery. This options is enabled, by default, on a new Tiki installation.
    • Backlinks: "Backlinks" are a list of wiki pages that link to a specific page. Tiki can automatically keep this list of incoming links up-to-date. You can customize the length (number of characters) displayed in the backlink drop list. This can be useful if you have very long page names.

Leave the remaining options as their default.
  7. Click Apply. Tiki saves the settings and reloads the page.

 Notes

You can use the Editing and Plugins control panel to configure additional features for all wiki text areas.

Refer to the TikiWiki documentation for complete information on all the wiki configuration options.
