Configuring Tiki Features
One of the best things about Tiki is the number of features that it includes... right out-of-the-box. Tiki has more built-in features than any other open source CMS.1 Even better, these features are all unified under a single product — Tiki.
Now that your site is configured to allow new users to register, you can add features to your site. By default, Tiki starts with only one feature turned on - the wiki feature. Let's look at what other features are available.
From the Control Panels page:
- Click Features.
Tip
You can also access the Administration page by typing http://www.yourdomain.com/tiki-admin.php?page=features in your web browser. - The Features control panel appears.
Tips
*Select the No tabs option to display all the features on a single page, instead of on separate tabs.
*Use the Configuration Search option to quickly find a specific feature or option. This is especially helpful since Tiki contains more than 1,000 different settings!
*Can't find the feature you're looking for? Check your Admin filter. See "Filtering Preferences" on Using the Control Panels.
Let's turn some of Tiki's features on.
- On the Global Features tab, select the following Main features:
- Wiki
- File Gallery
- Blog
- Articles
- Forums
- Polls
- Unified search index
Note
The Wiki, File Gallery, and Unified Search Index features should be enabled, by default, for a new Tiki default profile installation. - In the Watches area, select User Watches .
- Click Apply. Tiki saves the changes and reloads the page, confirming that the features are now enabled.
- From the Control Panels page, click Users.
- The User Settings control panel appears. Use this page to enable specific user features.
- On the User Settings tab, enable the Display "My Account" in the application menu option, then click Apply.
Notice that Menu module now has additional options (for each of the newly activated features).
